Palestine/Israel presentation slated for 6/17/18

South Hebron:

The struggle for human rights in the Holy Land

A presentation by a Michigan native titled “South Hebron: The struggle for human rights in the Holy Land” is being sponsored by the Islamic Center of Midland and Reaching Out for Justice and Peace Work Group of Memorial Presbyterian Church.

The speaker, Cody O’Rourke, is originally from Gladwin, Michigan, but has been living in Bethlehem for seven years.

An activist for Palestine/Israel, O’Rourke, exposes how the systematic colonization by Israeli settlers is crippling the Palestinian village Um al-Khair.

While working to advance Palestinian human rights, as the proud father of a 6-year-old Israeli Jew O’Rourke is well aware of anti-Semitism and violence towards the Jewish people.

O’Rourke will discuss:

*The impact of the Israeli’s occupation on the Palestinians in South Hebron Hills
*How being the father of an Israeli Jew has shaped his understanding of Israel’s occupation of Palestine
*Practical ways you can get involved

O’Rourke has worked with the Christian Peacemaker Teams, the Israeli Committee Against Home Demolitions, Defense for Children International, the Hebron International Resource Network, and Holy Land Trust.

We hope you can attend the event to learn more about Palestine/Israel! We look forward to seeing you soon.
